Someone in my school complained that there was a power outage at this morning 4:10 clock, Why I can only see one log message regarding the power outage "The battery power is too low to support the load; if power fails, the UPS will be shut down immediately."during that time on the UPS
By my understanding of UPS, the UPS should inform me the "The output power is turned off" in advance of receiving above Log message which is same as it happened at 00:52:11 , or provide some information or reason about the power outage .
The UPS log is as following :
08/26/2014 04:18:14 System: Network service started. System IP is 10.10.117.50 from DHCP server 10.10.10.85 with 518390 second lease.
08/26/2014 04:11:36 UPS: The battery power is too low to support the load; if power fails, the UPS will be shut down immediately.
08/26/2014 04:11:36 UPS: Restored the local network management interface-to-UPS communication.
08/26/2014 04:11:02 System: Network Interface coldstarted.
08/26/2014 00:52:11 UPS: A low battery condition no longer exists.
08/26/2014 00:52:11 UPS: The output power is turned off.
08/26/2014 00:46:33 UPS: The battery power is too low to continue to support the load; the UPS will shut down if input power does not return to normal soon.
08/26/2014 00:46:33 UPS: On battery power in response to an input power problem.
08/26/2014 00:46:31 UPS: Restored the local network management interface-to-UPS communication.
08/26/2014 00:45:57 System: Network Interface restarted.
08/26/2014 00:28:36 System: Email: Could not resolve 'relay.gxxx.ca'.
08/26/2014 00:26:36 System: Email: Could not resolve 'relay.gxxx.ca'.
08/26/2014 00:24:36 System: Email: Could not resolve 'relay.gxxx.ca'.
08/26/2014 00:19:30 UPS: The battery power is too low to continue to support the load; the UPS will shut down if input power does not return to normal soon.
08/26/2014 00:07:18 UPS: On battery power in response to an input power problem.
08/25/2014 15:36:23 System: NTP update successful.
08/15/2014 22:42:07 System: Email: Could not mail 'relay.gxxx.ca'.
08/15/2014 22:41:54 UPS: Passed a self-test.
08/15/2014 22:41:39 UPS: Started a self-test.
Thanks a lot for help!

Hello,
For the best possible recommendation/information, I'd suggest that you provide us the full logs if possible, instructions here -> How can I download Event, Data, Configuration, and Debug files from my Network Management Card? | FA...
Glancing at the small portion you provided, I see this event which you did not highlight in red:
08/26/2014 00:07:18 UPS: On battery power in response to an input power problem.
So, what I am seeing is that there were during the early morning, assuming the time is correct, there was also an outage where the UPS battery was discharged. Thus, if there was another power outage, the UPS hadn't charged up yet. We'll be able to say more when seeing the data log. One think we'll need to know is based on your typical load, how much available battery runtime do you have?
My first guess is that at 00:07:18, the UPS went to battery power. Is your network switch connected to your UPS? I ask because the network interface rebooted and email could not be sent. Then, the Network Management Interface rebooted, perhaps because of the lack of network traffic (a feature of the watchdog mechanism explained here -> Why does my Network Management Card report warmstarts and coldstarts? | FAQs | US) thinking there was an issue with itself possibly and as soon as it did, it realized the UPS was still on battery and runtime was running low. At 00:52:11, the UPS turned off potentially due to running on battery since 00:07:18. At this time, I am thinking the UPS went braindead (de-energized itself completely), waiting for AC power to return so the Network Management Card lost power too. At 04:11:02, it comes back on, indicated by the Network Management Coldstart event (meaning the Network Management Card lost power) and since the UPS hasn't charged up yet since no AC power was available, it reported the battery power was still too low.
This is all an assumption based on looking at this log alone.
Once I see the other logs in conjunction with the full log and understand your typical runtime, I can likely provide a more detailed and concrete response.
