I have a Smart-UPS, pretty sure the model is SUA 1500.
I got the low battery alert (red light and beeping) and have ordered a new battery, but it probably won't arrive for about five days. The unit occasionally beeps for about 15 seconds. Is there a way to disable the beeping?
I've never installed the Power Chute software. I just popped the CD in, and I have the choice of installing the Windows Agent, Windows Server, or Windows Console. Which one(s) should I install (if any of them will stop the beeping)?
Thanks.

I bought the last replacement battery in May 2008, so I didn't even get 2.5 years out of it. 😞
I bought the SMART-UPS in December 2004, so the original battery lasted about 3.5 years.

if you are using AVR and see the boost or trim light on, that means the UPS is boosting or trimming using an internal transformer. that function does not use the battery (because it would degrade/lessen the life of the battery).
depending on usage, storage conditions, quality of the battery, etc you should get a good 3-5 years out of the battery. hope you got that much?

is it low battery or replace battery to be exact? i dont think you can disable either since they are trying to warn you.
the replace battery chirping lasts for 1 minute every (5) hours if i remember correctly.

Well, the red light above the "replace battery" label is on (and stays on).
I checked out that article, and you're right -- it says the alarm can't be disabled.
FWIW, I did suspect that the battery was getting flukey -- we had numerous power outages this summer (one that lasted for days) and I had plugged the UPS into our gas-powered generator. The battery never was quite right after that. One day when we DID have electricity, I woke up to discover the UPS had turned itself off, and the battery wasn't charged. I'd been getting AVR Boost alerts, so I thought maybe the boosts were draining the battery. Or something. I'm not a technical person, so I really don't know anything about this stuff.
