How to allow power shute software firewall ??

I have smart ups 750. I have network card in it.

When I open the local IE 10 with it I have found out that it does not work with IE10.

so I want to access it from another browser from another comptuer.

I try putting in

http://10.1.0.1:3052/index.html

or

http://10.1.0.1:6547/index.html

Both do not work. I gett Oops from chrome. I have changed the settings to html from https

I asume taht the firewall is blocking it on the 2008 R2 server. But when I allow it it still does not work.

What specifically do I need to allow on 2008 R2 to allow the web browswer to access the Powershute software from a compuer on the local network.

Thanks.

Hello,

To clarify, the Network Management Card installed physically in the UPS by default operates on port 80 unless you change it. So, you'd enter in just http://10.1.0.1 to access it theoretically.

Furthermore:

  • PowerChute Network Shutdown is a software and a service you install to gracefully shutdown devices attached to a UPS that has a Network Management Card. To configure and access this software, you'd access this via the method you're referring to http://:3052 or https://6547 - if you're on that computer, you can use the loopback address too - for example, http://127.0.0.1:3052

If it is PowerChute Network Shutdown you need to access, here is the information regarding firewall configuration taken from the user's guide (http://www.apcmedia.com/salestools/PMAR-8RNKEY/PMAR-8RNKEY_R0_EN.pdf😞

On Windows, when the Windows Firewall is enabled, you can allow the PCNS installation

to configure the firewall automatically. That is, the NMC communication port (UDP 3052)

is registered as an exception in the firewall and enabled. Also, exceptions are created for

TCP ports 3052 (HTTP) and 6547 (HTTPS) but are left disabled for security reasons. If

you want to enable remote access to a particular Web user interface, you can enable the

appropriate exception.

  • PowerCute Business Edition is a separate software you should not be using if you have a UPS Network Management Card. It also installs as a service and can be accessed the same way PowerChute Network Shutdown can be as I described.

Thus, please clarify what you are trying to access if what I noted doesn't clarify things.

No problem. Yes, PowerChute Network Shutdown does not support email currently, only the Network Management Card itself.

You were right in your assumptions.

I went to  the firewall and found that the software had indeed added the exceptions. My only complaint with APC is why do they name things cryptically. Why not make the acceptions start with either APC or even UPS I looked for these when I originally went to the Firewall but didn't see them. Instead the exceptions Are PCNS Group 1 HTTP Web Interface Port (TCP 3052). I enabled those and things started working. Great.

The reason I wanted to figure this out is because of another problem that I was having. And that was that when I go to configure events on the powershute software on my computer then look at the headings of the columns one of them says notify users. However under that there are no check boxes like there are on other columns. I was told at the time that IE 10 was not supported. Firefox Is supported. So I wanted to come in from another computer using firefox to set the Notify users setting. However when I come in using the latest Firefox from another computer (now that that works) I still cannot see the notify users box . It is not there.   Im currently using Windows 7 and the latest firefox.

Any thoughts. I saw at some time a chart showing browsers that worked with what OS. I cant find it now. But I recall it showing that what Im currently using should work. BTW the host OS that has the pcns on it is windows 2008 R2.

Thanks.

Here is the what things look. Note no check boxes in notify users.
