How test NMC to PCNS communication without pulling UPS plug?

Hello,
Newbie here concerning APC UPSs but have experience with Liebert UPSs and shutdown software. For Liebert shutdown software, the server housing the management software (equivalent to the APC NM card) can be made to send a test signal over the network to all other servers running the client shutdown software. This verifies that the communication is working properly and does not require pulling the plug on the UPS.
I cannot find an equivalent feature in the NMC setup (I was looking for it in the web interface). I simply want to make sure that the NMC is properly communicating with the PCNS software on my other servers. But I don't want to have to pull the plug on the UPS just to test this!
I am sure it is simple to do and am just not finding the function. Can someone tell me how to accomplish this? Thanks muchly.

Bernie Flinn

Hello again,
When the PCNS is first run, you get the message that you bolded below. However, if you want to test the communication 2 weeks from now, how do you do it apart from unloading PCNS and reloading it? That's not convenient. And no, doing a "test" of the UPS does not send a message from the NMC to the PCNS software on the servers. The action is only logged in the NMC log.
I managed to talk to a tech support person just the other day and apparently the NMC has no provision for sending out a simple message to test communication between the NMC and the PCNS clients. Oh well.

Bernie
