I am wondering how mobile the InRow Cooling Units will be.
I don't mean that we will move the rack cabinets often, but I just want to consider the impact if we have to re-arrange the rack cabinets.
Can we move the InRow Cooling unit ouselves or do we need to call APC every time?

Hi Blue Tongue,
The InRow SC units are more maneuverable than the RC. As upsguy mentioned the RC has all the plumbing that goes with it, but the SC is self contained and only needs the power lines and either a drain or a bucket.

The units themselves are very mobile.... But the building installed plumbing to them will probably not be. There will be either copper refridgerant lines or some sort of chilled water lines that probably wont be very flexible. On that point. For lets say chilled water you can add a distribution system to add extra hookup points throughout your data center for more flexibility should you decided to reposition your racks. Having said that each system would then have to be properly filled/purged according to APC specs which should be done by APC Air Field Service Engineers.
So having said all that it would be quite an ordeal to just repostion your server row due to the overall mechanical installation of the cooling piping, drains, electrical hookups etc...
FYI... The warranty would be voided if you or a 3rd party repositioned the unit and didn't start it up properly and the unit was then damaged.
