Depends on the events. Some events take a lot of room to store in the log and others don't. Also, when the log fills up, the oldest half is deleted to make room for new entries.

If you need to make sure you retain logs over a period of time, I recommend using the syslog feature to log the events on a server.

As voidstar said above, the maximum number of events is dependent of the event string lengths. Therefore, there is no exact maximum quantity for events.
