From Address Define the contents in the 'From' field of the Email messages sent by the Card. Note: The SMTP server's configuration may require the use of a valid user account on the server for this setting. See the server's documentation for more information.
I am using a Smart-UPS RT 8000 RM XL , I would really like to recive emails from it ( As I do with HP UPS's). I am not using a DNS. I can enter the SMTP address but can't find anywhere to set the user name & password
The online help says
'The SMTP server's configuration may require the use of a valid user account on the server for this setting'
But no clues as to how to configure it
Thanks
Tony

One might be able to create an authentication rules exception in Exchange based on the source IP address or provided email "from" address.

Hi Tony,
Unless someone has figured out otherwise, APC products don't "play nice" with SMTP accounts that require authentication. This holds true for PCBE, Network Management Cards, and Infrastruxure Manager. They're all pre-set, automatically generated emails that cannot be edited to send authentication values.

I would just like to let everyone know that APC's Network Management Card 2 devices (AP9630, AP9631, AP9635) and any device with an embedded version of this card, as of AOS 5.1.1 release, now support using basic (versus SSL) SMTP authentication.

I had the same issue. What I had to do was create a generic e-mail account and use the open SMTP server that our vendor provides. The [From Address] has to be a valid one, so that's why I created a generic one rather than use mine to also give it that attention of whom it was coming from. Keep in mind that the open SMTP server will most probably only deliver mail for people in that same domain.
