High Temperature Automatic Shutdown?

Hi,

I have a SmartUPS-3000XL I noticed the internal temperature is running at 29.2 celsius which is fine.

My question is whether the UPS will automatically switch off above a certain temperature without the need for the separate external environment sensor?

The reason I ask it that it is in a rack in quite a small room and in the event of a mains power failure I do not have 100% confidence that the Air Con will always come back on when the power is reinstated.

Thanks

Andy

PS I am running powerchute business edition 7.0.5 build 108 if that helps

hi

this is not configured by default but you can definitely configure this.

the easiest way that i know of doing this is to access the agent portion of business edition via the web interface (versus opening the business edition console - opening both at the same time can cause an issue so make sure powerchute businss edition console - if used - is closed while doing this).

to configure this event, you want to go to http://127.0.0.1:3052 if you are local to the machine or http://:3052 if you are remote. this web page should prompt you for the username and password you use to access the software normally.

once inside, you should see your navigation on the left hand side. click on Events ->Actions->"UPS Internal Temperature Threshold Exceeded"

once you click on that event, you will see that towards the bottom of the page, you can select a check box to "Initiate Shutdown Sequence." You can select that then also choose the temperature that you wish the UPS to shutdown at.

Just a note - The UPS's internal fan will come on at 104º F (40ºC) if it is an SUA model - SUA3000XL for example or if its an SU model - SU3000XL for example, it will come on at 140ºF (60ºC). [Click here for all fan operating parameters|http://nam-en.apc.com/cgi-bin/nam_en.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=6672].

In addition to shutdown on this particular event, you can also configure other types of events if you need to. Also, you can on the Events-> Actions page if there are any other events that you'd like to configure in a certain way.

hope this helps! please post if you have any other questions.
