Hi everyone. I actually got this for free from a friend; it's a brand new unit. I figured I'd use it as opposed to trying to sell it since I get very brief power outages pretty often...the problem seems to be that it's a 230V model and while it seems to charge when I plug it into an outlet, as soon as I actually test a computer by turning it on and pressing the start button, the computer will not start. If I instead press and hold the test/start button, the fan comes on on the UPS and then if I press the power button on the computer, it starts but the UPS keeps beeping because it seems to supply only battery power. It seems that the UPS for some reason charges the battery but it's unable to supply power from the wall to whatever is connected to the UPS. Any ideas?I live in the US in an apt building and I think it may have something to to with the voltage rating...

First of all, the 230 Vac product is not designed to work in the U.S. It outputs 230 Vac on the outlets which will not power 120 Vac product. What is the input voltage does the Computer require? Does it require 120 Vac? If so, this 230 Vac product will not work with your 120 Vac equipment.
Please view the below k-base document which explains why a 230 Vac international model Smart-UPS should not be used in North America.

I hope that this helps.
