I would like to configure PCNS to start shutting down all VMs when there is a power outage AND there is only 20 minutes left of runtime. After it shuts down the VMs, I'd like it to shut down the hosts.
I see an option to shutdown when the runtime is below a certain threshold, but it says nothing about whether that setting depends on the UPS being on battery or not.
I don't want to accidentally cause a shutdown by setting anything wrong, so some advice would be really helpful.

Hi Tony,
I presume you are referring to the "Runtime remaining below threshold" option in the Configure Events section.
This event means that the UPS runtime remaining has dropped below the configured threshold while on Battery.
So if you enable this event and configure a threshold of 1200 seconds (20 minutes) and the UPS switches to Battery operation, PCNS will initiate a shutdown when it detects that there is only 20 minutes of runtime left, assuming that AC power has not returned in the meantime.
Hope this helps clarify it!
