Galaxy 3500 and AP9631

Hi everybody,

The UPS is running fine, the card is configured, answers to ping, but when I try to access it by IE, it doesn't display the tabs for the UPS parameters. Says unknown UPS. So: faulty card, or faulty interface between UPS and comm card? Is it a big deal to fix the issue?

hi mihail,

you need to upload an AOS, then one of the application files. if you are using a Smart UPS or Matrix UPS with AP9606, you should upload the AOS and then the sumx file, or if its a symmetra 3 phase, do sy3p, etc

You cannot just load an AOS by itself.

Hi again,

I have already tried to re-insert the card, that very night. Also, I have pull out the power module and replace it. It just didn' t work. Now the thing is that no one is hooked to that UPS. And I don't know if that connection will be ever used. We'll see.

By the way, here is another issue; customer has a bunch of old Symmetra Power Array( single ph 16kVA). They are all tied to the network, but they do not send alerts whenever problems appear.(like e-mail notifications....bla bla)
Do you think that a firmware upgrade could solve the issue? If Yes, what would be the right ".bin" for the UPS mentioned above?

this is indeed the correct firmware. you are correct - galaxy 3500 is very similar to a Smart UPS VT so it is considered a Smart UPS firmware wise.

This is the correct firmware for this UPS. You can try reseating the card in the slot on the UPS. other than that, I am not sure. i am not that familiar with this particular UPS. if you'd like, i can give you a newer firmware to try but i am not sure if it will solve the issue.

my recommendation would be:

1.) try reseating NMC in the slot on the UPS
2.) try new firmware application I can send you
3.) we will have to talk to someone that supports this UPS in particular to see if anything else can cause no communication between the NMC and UPS that we can try.

hmm, i am not sure what else the issue could be on the galaxy. it could possibly be a problem with the NMC itself if you did swap out the power module but i am not 100% sure.

on the symmetra power array, you are using an AP9606 Web/SNMP card. this card is 10+ years old and uses a different firmware than the NMC2 in the galaxy UPS. the firmware versions you provided in your attachment are already indeed the latest versions. unfortunately, the old AP9606 did not support config.ini export since it is so old so i cannot check the email configuration. we'd have to check the email configuration under the Network Menu-> Email, if you have to access it via the console or we can do it via the web page if you can get to that.

also, i see the card has been up for 167 days. i don't think it would hurt to reboot the card as i've seen that solve the issue too. you can do this under system->tools->reboot. this will not affect the load and only reboot the card.

also, did this just stop working or did it never work?

Hello there,

Sorry for the break but I have been out for some work,

To make to story short, this customer had a very smart guy for IT. Ever since they fired him, the problems started to flow like Niagra falls. The cards worked in his era, now......Now, I did reboot every single bloddy card, checked all the parameters, they are telling me that the cards are fine, they just don't send alarms. I shall think to something till next april I still think they problems in in their yard.

Hello Angela,

I did solved this issue yesterday. remember.. a card not respoding/ faulty from the start-up. Well I went on the apc software and download the latest firmware, all cool now, it is fix. no problem during or after the "surgery".

sounds like maybe the wrong firmware is loaded, if you recently upgraded it.

either way, can you please provide the information from the Administration Tab->General->About from the web interface?
