Found a gotcha in the Powerchute installler
The installer silently fails on any machine where you can't execute stuff from the user directory--something that's not exactly unusual in the business world or even amongst knowledgeable home users--setting a group policy preventing running code from that directory blocks a lot of malware.
Unfortunately, the installer unpacks an .EXE to that directory and when it doesn't run it doesn't report the error. Click the installer and you just get a blink (maybe it's more noticeable on a slower machine), nothing more.
Workaround: The extract worked, copy the files to someplace they're allowed to run and it will install.
