Hello,
I am kind of in a crunch and grasping for straws.
I have about 40 UPS that I just inherited that are scattered over a large geographic area so I can not look at them physically.
Some of them are in need of new batteries so I am trying to find the correct battery.
I am using StruxtureWare DataCenter Expert and have been able to find the serial numbers and the Basic Model number such as
Smart-UPS 5000
Unfortunately depending on which specific SKU the model is they may have different batteries.
I know in many computer manufacturers you can check Warranty info and find some of this data.
My question is does anyone know if there is a way to look up the information on the UPS by Serial Number?
Or any other possible way to find the SKU remotely?
Thanks
Mike

Hi,
Unfortunately this level of detail isn't encoded in the serial number - it's mostly place & time of manufacture. Support may be able to assist if each serial number was registered at the point or time of sale, but it's not something that can be derived programatically.
If you can automate querying them via snmp, two useful OIDs would be:
1.3.6.1.4.1.318.1.1.1.1.2.5.0 - SKU (upsAdvIdentSkuNumber)
1.3.6.1.4.1.318.1.1.1.2.2.19.0 - Battery SKU (upsAdvBatteryInternalSKU)
I can't promise every UPS will answer these, particularly UPS that take multiple battery packs, but hopefully enough to greatly reduce your task.
(You may be able to add these in DCE as Supplemental OIDs - unfortunately I'm unable to test that myself right now)

Hi!!
Thank you for contact us, we can help you but I think it will be faster if you give us a call at this number, 800-800-4272, option 5, then option 1, then option 1, thats the number to contact tech support, if you provide them all the serial numbers they will be able to take a look the warranty status.
Thanks

Thanks Shaun,
I'll give that a try later today.
These UPS are scattered across the state so I hope this works out.
I'll let you know.
Mike

Shaun,
Sorry for the delay I did get a chance to try and unfortunately the OIDs are not present in the UPS' that I am trying to identify..
I even did a SNMP Device Walk on several and went line by line through them No model/SKU is present.
So I am back to square one.
Thanks for the help though
