I see the error messages "Managed PC shutdown not provided" and "APC UPS Service not running". If I run a Self-test, the unit passes. I have a Back-UPS ES 750. I use PowerChute Personal Edition 3.0.2. My computer runs Windows 10 Home. I read a response in this forum from 2009 that advised to set the Data Service and the UPS service to Automatic Start. I checked. The services were already marked Start. The PowerChute personal has the same error on my Win10 admin account as my Win10 user account. What do you suggest that I do to fix this? Thanks.

Hey APC,
I've a new Dell XPS desktop and I'm finding the latest version of PowerChute Personal 3.1.0 pulled from APCs site is not loading properly with an error as shown in this message's subject line. Running the two command prompts you suggested previously, you can see what I'm getting. Fails to start. See attached.
The computer came with McAfee Personal Security preloaded that I'm using for the 1yr service offered. When I look at its activity report, I'm seeing repeated incoming network connection blocking entries that I'm thinking may be from the UPS I'm using, an older ES750. See attached.
Do you have any suggestions of how I can get the managed pc shutdown service running? It appears the blocked connection is coming from the same device but through varying ports. I have snooped around McAfee and I can't really find a way to open up this connection, assuming this is the problem. Any help would be appreciate. Thanks.

Hi,
IS the APC UPS Service running? You can check the status using the command prompt. The command is sc query "apc ups service"
If the service is running you will get the reply shown below
If it is stopped restart it. The command is net start "apc ups service" Once started check the status using the earlier command. Once the apc ups service is running you will need to start the data server. The command is net start "apc data service"
If the service will not start I will need system information to troubleshoot. What if any malware and virus protection applications are running?

Well, this is embarrassing. When I first logged on this morning, the APC tray icon still had the ! on it. I ran the command as instructed. It showed exactly what it should. I looked at the APC tray icon and it was clean. No problem.
I am running Malwarebytes Corporate (1.80.1.1011) version and Bitdefender Antivirus Plus 2016
I may be writing back too soon. I suspect the problem will return. If so, I'll be back.
Thanks for the help.
