Enabling SmartConnect on APC SMC1500C UPS

Can you explain specifically how I can manually enable SmartConnect Access on my APC SMC1500C UPS using the device's LCD screen?

My unit did not arrive with an operations manual.

There is no direct method to connect to the APC Smart Connect Cloud Portal Service using just the LCD Menu. 

You will require a smartphone and / or computer system. I have appended a video resource link for your review:

After having subscribed to the required 'Advanced Plan', the instructions on your website clearly state...

• SmartConnect set to 'Enable - With Ctrl'. This can be manually enabled via the UPS device’s LCD screen. For more information, consult your UPS manual in the Documents section of the UPS Status page.

As I had previously mentioned, our newly purchased unit arrived without any such documentation. Is this documentation for our APC SMC1500C UPS available as a PDF for download somewhere? Anywhere?

If you’re logged into the APC Smart Connect Portal. Have you added the new device to your dashboard?!? Your hardware should have come with some paper documents and CD. Both of which more than likely refer you to the Smart Connect Cloud Portal Service.

Whether it provides more insight about the Enable I don’t know. Go through the LCD menu and see what the options are. 

Let me know what you see on the LCD of the unit. Along with enrolling the new hardware into your dashboard.

Having the same question. The manual says to change RC.0 to RC.1  on LCD display in order to enable remote access. However that simply will not work.

What exactly doesn’t work? The change in setting doesn’t stick when toggled from off to on?!?

Go to page 11, where it says “To enter configuration mode hold the MUTE and MENU buttons together for 2 seconds until the system emits a short beep and the display will flash to indicate the UPS has entered configuration mode.” Then see page 13 where you change the SmartConnect setting from rc.0 to rc.1

Reboot the UPS by powering it off and on, whereby your control panel will enable those options - to reboot remotely, etc.
