Currently, we have about 500 powerbars at our site. Each week day, we have to log into every bar, make a note of a power usage and enter than into an excel spreadsheet. As you can imagine its a very long tedious task. Is there any way of speeding up this process? Anyone knwo of a way of reporting the power usage on a nightly basis?

I'd use SNMP. Lets look at an easy way to get started.
First, enable SNMP v1 on the network management cards if not already enabled. Then you'll want to download:
- GetIF, a tool for easily browsing the information available via SNMP
- [PowerNET MIB|http://www.apc.com/products/resource/include/techspec_index.cfm?base_sku=SFPMIB405], install into GetIF's MIB folder
Once you have those, you can take a look at rPDULoadStatusLoad (.1.3.6.1.4.1.318.1.1.12.2.3.1.1.2) for a device and explore the other information available.
Next, to automate things, you can download the [Net-SNMP|http://www.net-snmp.org/] set of tools. Then you can create a batch script to poll the load from every device using snmpget and append each to a file.
