Hi,
I am the proud owner of a couple of AP7921 and the thing I had in mind for them is to be controlled from a computer program (which I am writing). The point would be that the program should be able to read the status on each of the 8 outlets, and on external events, turn an outlet on or off.
The question I have is: how?
From what I see, there are two options to view outlets status and control them:
1. The web interface, with a BASIC authentication scheme. I should be able to script that interface but it looks like it makes a heavy use of context and it will be clunky at best. Not mentionning that if I'm logged in from another computer, the program will see its access denied.
2. The control console, which I can access through the simplest protocol in the world: telnet. Here, again, I can make my program navigate through the menus, parse the results and issue commands. It should be a lot easier. Still a bit clunky but it should work.
Both these methods were designed for humans and scripting them will work but is not ideal.
Is there something else I can use that was made for a computer and not for a human?
I see in the Web interface that I can define a "link" for each outlet. What is it used for?
Thanks in davance for any help you can provide.

Take a look at [Knowledge Base Article 10853|http://nam-en.apc.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/10853] which has a link to the PDF documentation for the scripting interface.
The link option in the web interface just sets the URL that you'll be directed to when you click on that outlet.
