Connecting SC450RM1U to network without serial to serial
I have been trying to find out if it's possible to get our SC450RM1Us connected to our network via RJ-45 for the purpose remotely checking on battery health, and unless I've missed something, the documentation isn't exactly helpful. Our deployment of these doesn't have anywhere to connect using the included serial to serial comms cable, and switch ports show no activity when they are connected to either RJ-45 port on the unit itself. I do see a DB-9 to RJ-45 comms cable listed as a separate purchasable accessory, but the documentation on it is also lacking.
Additionally, are these units accessible through a web interface like some larger models, or is PowerChute the only option for remotely interfacing?
Apologies for making this a forum post - I've tried several times to go through the support chat on APC's site but it always gets stuck at 3 people in queue, leading me to cancel my chat request so that I can attend to other matters.
The ports on the back of the UPS are 9-pin serial for use with PowerChute and RJ45 in / RJ45 out for surge protection of network equipment. For surge protection, connect the incoming data from the modem/router and the outgoing data to the local network switch or specific networked device such as a computer/server.
