Hello all, I am way out of my league here. I have a Smart-UPS 1000 battery backup for my one home computer. Per APC support, I've downloaded the appropriate software for my Windows 7, 64 bit new computer. I can access the via the web a control console. But I really don't know what I'm doing. In the Event Actions setup, I am not sure how to set each one. My main concern is graceful shutdown with the power outage. I've set shut down for: Communication lost while on Battery, Low Battery, Power Failed, Battery discharged, Time on Battery Threshold exceeded.
Any others? Or which ones for sure are recommended?
Then the Shutdown Sequence configure. Are the defaults fine? I have no idea on this.
Thanks guys.

If you would like to maximize your run time then the best option is to shutdown the computer when it reaches low battery. If you would like to preserve or conserve the battery charge, then the best option would be to shutdown the computer when it has ran on battery for X amount of minutes/seconds.

When do you want to shutdown your computer? Would you like to do it once the power goes out or wait for a few minutes that the UPS has run on battery or wait until you have X amount of minutes left on your battery backup?
