Configuration on Powerchute BE Deluxe 9 seem conflicting
I installed PowerChute Business Edition Deluxe 9 on my servers. Each has a RM1500 unit with back packs on each. Each server UPS system appears to have 180 Min of runtime according to the latest calibrations. I purchased the extra battery packs so I would have more runtime available.
I am a little confused by this new version of software. In older version of PowerChute I could configure it to run my shutdown routines or commands when there was X amount of time or Y % of battery left, however this new version does not seem to have that and it also appears that some of the entries are conflicting in their wording. Is there a way I can configure this version so at 20 minutes of remaining runtime it runs a command file where I can put in my list of commands to shutdown my services?
For instance, in this version when I bring up a device's properties and go to Server Shutdown -> Power Failure I have the choice of:
Immediate
After X minutes
At Runtime Limit
This would suggest that at the UPS will only shutdown at the Runtime Limit if I choose.
But when I check Server Shutdown -> Shutdown Sequence the configurable items (Command File, Exchange, IIS, SQL, etc) appear to only have the option of running after X number of minute of delay. On my Exchange Server I have 180 minutes of runtime available so I would like the server to stay operational until there is about 20 minutes left of battery. Here it seems like the only option I have is to set it to start shutting down after 55 minutes MAX which means I will have a server sitting there doing nothing for another hour and a half. What is also conflicting is on this screen it appears that the OS setting is going to shutdown in a MAX of 60 minutes and not at near the end of runtime like the previous setting would suggest.
