In order to avoid any data loss on my Synology NAS DS923+ server I have attached a APC Smart-UPS SC 420VA 230V SC420I. I want to configure it in a way, that the NAS is automatically shuts down when the battery of the UPS is getting low. The connection at the UPS is serial DB-9 RS-232. The connection at the NAS server is USB. Is a simple converter sufficient or do I need to know more about this or is it simply impossible.
