Certificate Errors

I have only recently begun to manage our APC power bars but believe the following has been an annoyance to people for years on our site.

When navigating to the management cards of our AP7953 power bars we are receiving certificate errors in Internet Explorer 7. You can obviously go passed this by clicking continue to website but ideally I would like to fix the error.

We are using https and navigate to them by typing https://.

Originally we were receiving the error "Certificate Invalid". Through Internet Explorer I installed the certificate into the Trusted Root Certification Authorities Store and this resolved the "Certificate Invalid" error.

However, I am now receiving a "Mismatched Address" error in IE7.

I don't know much about this kind of thing and am running out of ideas on how to fix it.

Anyone had similar problems and resolved them?

Followed the instructions as per the manual for the set up of a CA root certificate and SSL certificate and all now ok.

can you post a screenshot if possible?

are you using the APC security wizard to generate .p15 certificates or are you just using the self generated certificate from the management card itself that uses its own serial number as the common name?

I am using the self generated certificate from the management card itself that uses its own serial number as the common name.

Having just looked at the manual I believe what i need to do is follow the instructions in the section titled:

"Create a Root certificate and Server certificates"

So basically create a root certificate and then create a server certificate with the common name as the IP address.

I presume that worse case scenario all that will happen is I will be in the exact same position I am now.
