Can you disable the Battery Replacement Warning Buzzer through software?
I am aware this subject may have been raised in these forums before. It certainly has numerous times by US customers. However I cannot find a definitive answer.
I am using a SmartUPs 1500 which recently after a short power surge has started buzzing for 30 seconds every 5 hours. The Red "replace battery" indicator on the front of the UPS is also illuminated.
I know this feature is by design to warn people that the batteries are coming to end of life, however I replaced these with originals only 18 months ago and during most of that time the UPS has been offline.
I only use this UPS to prevent disruption during brownouts when working on customers PCs. Its not on a mission critical server or similar.
I have scoured these forums and the web looking for a definitive answer. Some threads say the feature can be disabled in PowerChute Personal edition. Other posts say that only the Business Edition will work with the smart UPS series. I do not want to have to pay several hundred pounds to buy this software just to disable the buzzer!
Please can someone confirm (from experience or technical knowledge) if the battery replacement sound can be disabled through either PowerChute Personal or PowerChute Business.
I briefly downloaded the Windows version of APCUPSD but could not figure out how to configure it for my version of UPS

PowerChute Business Edition is a free to download from APC.com in the U.K. You should install the Agent and configure the alarms through it. Another option if the Smart-UPS is a SMT or SMX1500 is to disable alarms using the LCD screen.
