We were planning to purchase 14 Back--UPS XS, 865 Watts / 1500 VA,Input 120V / Output 120V to be put on 14 different platforms in 3 different buildings. The reason we are opting for this model is that it includes a network card and the UPS are being monitored from another site.
The problem is that some of those platforms only hold one Cisco 2950-48 ports switch, and having one 1.5KVA UPS per platform would be overkilling it.
We are now trying to find a solution to connect more than one platform per UPS, my question is:
What is the maximum distance that we could connect this model and still have a good performance?
Each platform has around 23 yrds of separation between each other. I have the idea that the performance is affected by the distance so may have to choose another model if this is possible.

Hi:
Actually the Back-UPS XS series units do not include network cards (or have an option for them).
Additionally, how are you planning to distribute the power such a long distance? APC doesn't recommend the usage of extension cords.
Perhaps a smaller UPS might work for your situation? The Smart-UPS 750 (SUA750) may do well, as this is a 750va unit that does have the option for a network card. Perhaps you could put one of these in each platform? This way you would not be overdoing it, and you would not have to stretch the power such great distance.
Let me know if there are any additional questions!
Thanks!
