Hey,
Yesterday, I bought an APC SMT1500RMI2U for my rack, and it seems to be working fine.
The load is around 150W, so according to this page, it should give at least 1½ hour of battery time: http://www.apc.com/products/family/index.cfm?id=165&tab=models (1 hour and 32 minutes with 200W load)
The problem is, that it only lasts for about 55 minutes, which is what the recalibration tells me, together with the powerchute web interface.
If I unplug the unit, so it runs on batteries, the remaining percentage drops fairly quickly to around 55% and then drops slows thereafter.
The unit was assembled June 8. 2012, from what I can see on the QA label on top of the unit when it arrived.
My questions are:
# Is this normal?
# Shouldn't the batteries be brand new, when the unit is only about 2 months old?
# Should I wait a few days and try again to see if it holds the charge better?
Thanks 🙂

1) Has the UPS had enough time to fully charge before you tested it?
2) Have you exceeded the load which states it'll give 1 hour 32 minutes?
I'd check the two above.
