Hi all,
I have four battery management system devices(AP9921x) for battery monitoring.
I can access them via browser and stay login max 10 min(as defined in settings). After that period system logoff.
Is there any software or adjustment that can provide me permanent access to all devices(like SCADA systems) in order to
notice warnings or alarms in case of battery discharge or some other battery faults.
Thanks in advance!
Miki

Hi mikic - yes a MIB browser is a start. I use GetIf (2.2 or 2.3.1) or iReasoning.
Then you'll need the APC MIB file called the PowerNet MIB which contains the values each APC product offers via SNMP.
You can download that here -> http://www.apc.com/tools/download/index.cfm and select Filter by Software/Firmware and choose Firmware Upgrades - MIB and get the PowerNet MIB.
You'll need to import/load that into your MIB browser so it can browse it. On GetIf, just paste it in to the MIBs folder in the program's directory and iReasoning has a Load MIB option in it's menu.
Start there and then you'll need an IP address/hostname of your device to query. You'll need to make sure SNMPv1 at least is enabled in your device's configuration too under Administration->Network SNMP.

Hi Miki,
You could probably use one of the other methods the AP9921X offers for monitoring for what you're interested in - that'd be command line interface (telnet/ssh), Modbus via RS-485, or even better, SNMP. I don't know much about SCADA but the Battery Management System does not support that natively.
There are also a few ports on the device, outlined here (http://www.apcmedia.com/salestools/ASTE-6Z5QFW/ASTE-6Z5QFW_R2_EN.pdf), that for for an alarm contact or alarm beacon.

Hi Angela,
thank you for fast reply. I do not have experience in SNMP, so I need help. Is there some software for SNMP?
I found some information about SNMP on the Internet. Should I install some mib browser or something else(???) in order to get informations from my devices.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Miki
