Unit is 5 years old, always in active standby as a back up. Only actually provided battery backup perhaps 12 times total during power outages.
While under no load, the fan is coming on for 2 minutes, then off for ten. Battery status shows 20% charge & never rises.
Have done a reset as recommended by APC, with no resulting change.
What is likely problem?
Is it cost effective to seek repairs?

Hi Andy,
We also need to consider the kind of environment where the unit is installed. Does it have sufficient gap or space for air to flow properly? Is the UPS boosting or trimming the voltage as well? Aside from that I would also check if the unit and the battery gets too hot to touch.
