Hello, I could really use some help.
I’m in the process of updating the firmware on my Smart-UPS 3000 RM with the AP9619 (NMC) from an older 2007 version to v3.9.3. You can find the firmware here: https://www.apc.com/us/en/download/document/APC_SUMX_393_EN/
However, when I try updating one device (let's call it apc1), I get the following error message on the web interface:
"Error: The application was not able to load. You are attempting to access an APC device. There was a problem loading the application. Please login to the device via telnet for more details."
But interestingly, when i did the exact same procedure previously on another device (apc4), the update was successful, and i was able to access the web interface without any issues.
So what have i done wrong?
Any help troubleshooting this would be greatly appreciated!

So it turns out that in order to update the UPS firmware, I needed the default username and password (apc), even though I had already provided the new user and password. I assume there's some sort of check hardcoded into the script.
Using Telnet, I was able to reset the password, run the firmware update again, and this time it completed successfully, with the web interface returning. It was a really simple solution to what I initially thought was a major mistake on my part.
Maybe next time, I won't panic so quickly.
Thank you.
