So I have learned that PCPE 3.1 now creates an ApcTempReg folder in the C:\ drive during/following installation.
In that folder is one file, APCSetting.txt. Shown below is an excerpt of that file:

What I don't understand is:
a) why a temp folder in the C:\ drive instead of one of the existing temp folders?
b) why this file is even necessary for the software to write to every time the system is booted?

I have installed this both on site and by logging in remotely (LogMeIn) with my Admin account.
I am installing to the default path; the installer is in C:\AppUpdate folder
At this point, I can't tell you want my configuration settings are because my version of 3.10 PowerChute is showing "Power Source Unknown" and that's never a good thing...

Bill,
I'm reporting on a Windows 7 computer that previously had the older version.
Looked at a just recently installed 3.1 on a Windows 7 computer that never had PowerChute - same result (smaller file).
Looked at a brand new Windows 10 machine with a fresh install of 3.1 - same result (growing file).
Larry

Hi,
I have tested the installer on Win 10 home and pro. Also on Win 7 pro and cannot reproduce the issue. When the installer is run to creates a folder the the default users temp folder and once the installation has completed the folder is remove.
How are you running the installer? Are you logged in remotely, as admin? Are you installing to the default path? is the installer on the system or on external drive? Also, what are you selecting for your configuration i.e. enable software update notifications, send power quality information?
