Hi,
I have 2 UPS (Smart-UPS 1500) plugged into the same circuit, for some reason 1 of them is detecting a high voltage input and switched to trim mode (AVR Trim light on) while the other one is acting normally. When I look at both they don't show the same input voltage although plugged into the same outlet!? Any idea? Both batteries are fairly new.
Thanks!

Strange. I don't think I've ever seen that before. If you wanted to provide the logs from your 1500 (as well as model and serial) I would be happy to review them, but it does sound like there's an issue.

Hi Dominic -
It's possible (although uncommon) that two outlets in a dingle duplex are actaually being fed from separate circuits (which could explain the different voltages). have you tried adjusting the high and low transfer points for these units? This would be done via Powerchute, a Network Management card, or an LCD display. Is it possible to get the exact model/serial from the units and any logs from the software or network card?
thanks!
Liam

Hi Liam,
I switched the 2 units (I had 2 identical SmartUPS 1500 plugged into this outlet) and it did not change anything. I replaced my 1500 with a SamrtUPS 1400 (it was sitting on a shelf) and the voltage is right, no Trim issue now so I think something is wrong with one of my 1500... Not sure how to fix that (if fixable) .... Any idea or do you think it's dead?
Thanks!
Dom

Hi Dom,
I would suggest using Powerchute Business Edition or a Network Management Card to see what your high transfer point is set to on the 1500 that is always trimming. It will also display the current input voltage. I would suggest raising that transfer point setting above what you are generally seeing for input voltage.
thanks
Liam

I already did that, I have one management card in each UPS. I set the input voltage as high as I could but was still receiving trim alerts. When I compared the 2 UPS, they were not showing the same input voltage but when I swapped the 1500 for the 1400 I transferred the management card and it’s now showing the proper voltage. I came to the conclusion that something was wrong with the 1500 ....
