Hi All,
We have around 20+ new ATS units to go in wiring closets. Most of our wiring closets have 3560's, 3750's, and 4506e's. We do not have ANY issues when the ATS is plugged into a 3560 or a 4506e, but when we plug ethernet into a 3750, the switchport keeps bouncing. This ONLY happens on a 3750 and we are running various versions of IOS, so I do not think that is the problem. I have also tried switching the port to AUTO, 100-Full, and 10-Full, but the port just keeps bouncing. I stumbled upon this in the alert logs ....
System: TCP/IP stack failure. Module: tfPacketChecksum-Data in Packet chain smaller than length to be checksumed
Has anyone seen this before?? Any ideas??

the AP9617 is just the network management card that is inside the ATS. I need the model of the actual ATS - it will be something like AP7750. you might need to physically look at the ATS or check in the network management card interface under Automatic Transfer Switch->Status->About ATS on the bottom of the page. let me know what that is but regardless, on the event log, it looks like you are on version 1.0.0 for NMC firmware. please verify AOS and APP version under Help->About in the web interface. you mentioned AOS is 2.6.4 - is that where you saw this info? I am not sure why the event.txt would say version 1.0.0 but you see 2.6.4 some place.
once you confirm that it is an APP (application module) of ats, we can upgrade the firmware to the latest. i can post it to this thread once we confirm.
thanks.

ok lets try this.
download your config.ini to save all of your configuration from the card (check these instructions|http://nam-en.apc.com/cgi-bin/nam_en.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=9321]. then we will try a reset to defaults which i believe is under the system menu. ensure that you do NOT include your network settings.
then we can try to re-upload your config.ini file to see if the issue still exists. we could also try reseating the card inside of the ATS.
also another thing to try - can you try to disconnect the network cable from the card for about a half hour or so to see if maybe theres a packet on the network that the NMC doesnt like? you can try that first if its easier.
let me know how you make out.
also - you are using the latest rev of firmware so there is nothing to upgrade to.

Ok, finally figured out what it was. Had nothing to do with any of the switches. Long story short, I have some devices (legacy) still on the network that affect other devices at times as they do a huge broadcast from time to time .... thus the error about ip stack error we saw in the console. Thanks to Mr. Wireshark, I was able to track down the issue. Moved to another vlan and issue resolved.
Thanks for the help.
