AP7721 Problem

Guys, I have an AP7721 which appears to be something wrong with it. Its showing an Er on the display and no lights on the feeds/diagram on the unit. I logged into the unit and It won't let me do much within the unit saying lost connection to unit. Also settings appear to be set back to 0. Anybody have any idea what has happened here or how to fix it w/o taking down whats plugged into it? Thank you

Does this mean that in the event of a power failure that it won't transfer? If I power cycle one side at a time will it transfer between legs? Or will this condition prevent that?

yes i see a lot of power supply failures in the ATS. these power supplies power the management card and the relays inside of the ATSs. they seem to keep teetering on failure so I'd have to recommend that this ATS at least be power cycled for the 5 seconds from each source but if you still see power supply faults, i would recommend a replacement - via warranty or purchase if its not under warranty.

hi - this means that the little network management card inside cannot talk to the actual ATS to report data back to you.

can you download the event.txt file via [these instructions|http://nam-en.apc.com/cgi-bin/nam_en.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=9321]. this will also tell me what firmware version you have on the card. if you recently upgraded the firmware, this could be caused by an incorrect firmware version.

if not, see below on some additional information in regards to "Er"

Metered/Switched Rack PDUs and Automatic Transfer Switches contain power supplies that are intended to monitor the current being passed through the PDU/ATS in addition to power supplies that control relays. When these power supplies or the communications buss they use fail, a message will be displayed in the event log or Web page, indicating which one has gone bad. Also, the message "Er" will be displayed on the front screen.*

If these conditions arise, it would be a good idea to power cycle the ATS for about 10 seconds (unplug both sources) if possible. We could start there but lets confirm the above information first.

hope that helps!

you cannot power cycle one source at a time because that will not truly power cycle the ATS. you need to unplug both sources from power for 5-10 seconds completely to try this out.

due to the nature of the failure, I am not sure how it will react when there is a power failure or situation where the ATS needs to switch ๐Ÿ˜•
