APC USV with APC appliance
Hello,
I have a question for the APC UPC SMX750I with Network Management Card AP9640 installed.
Our scenario:
A single ESXi 7.0 server without Vcenter connected to the APC. We have installed the APC Shutdown appliance on the ESXi server. We configure a threshold time when the APC should initiate the shutdown command for the VMs. This is working fine.
Question is:
What is needed to initiate the start command for the ESXi server from the APC when the power has been restored while APC is still on battery power?
We see it works fine when there is no power and the battery is empty, So when the power is restored the APC also initiates a power command to the ESXi server.
Like any other software application PowerChute cannot run when the OS is off, so it cannot restart the server. To allow the server to automatically restart when AC is restored configure the BIOS of the server. The BIOS should be set to Always On
