No power outage anywhere except this rack and the UPS smells of burnt plastics. Three core switches and our main site's NSA 4600 perimeter firewall got nuked along with the media converters to deliver fiber to our remote sites in town.
In all, 300 users down and unable to work because previous staff and I didn't take steps to not put all eggs in a single basket. In my defense, I did start this job only 3 months ago and had higher priority stuff to deal with at the time, but this lesson was a good but rough one to learn.
Overnighting two UPS's so next time we won't lose everything if one goes violently.
