Hi there,
Is it possible to configure UPS via PowerChute Business to email if main power fails and UPS kicks in? I need the UPS to notify without the PC with the software all the time connected to the UPS.
In other words, is the UPS capable of send an email by itself?
Cheers,

You are totally right,
As I'm not able to see the back part of the UPS very clear, I thought it was a RJ45 connector.
So, as it is, there's no way to notify via email...
Thanks anyway.

Hi,
PowerChute is the application that sends the e-mail so if it is not running no e-mail will be sent. If you purchase a Smart-UPS that accepts a network management card you can configure the card to send an e-mail so it is not necessary for the PC or PowerChute to be running.

Thanks for you quick reply Bill.
So my APC Smart Ups C 1000va 2u Rack Mountable Lcd 230v doesn't come with a network management card, correct? What's the Ethernet port at the back for then?
Cheers,

Hi,
The on the Smart-UPS SMC1000 the RJ50 port on the back of the UPS is used for Serial communications. The UPS ships with a cable that on one end is 9 pin serial and the other is RJ50. There should be a label above the connector listing it as being Serial. Next to the connection should be the USB connector.
