APC SMX750NMC UPS - Hot Swap Batteries - Equal to a Manual Bypass Switch ?

I have a APC SMX750NMC UPS with AP9630 Network Management Card 2 and 1 external SMX48RMBP2U Battery.

Is the hot swap battery module equal to a manual bypass switch ?

No. When a UPS is placed in bypass, the UPS bypasses all charging and conditioning. When a battery is hot-swapped, the UPS is still conditioning the output.

In either case if AC is lost while the battery is disconnected or while in bypass the load will drop.
