Due to recent events, I purchased a UPS. I want to connect it to my Proxmox host using the AP9617 network card. Unfortunately, there is a password set on the card that the previous owner does not know.
So, I got the cable (AP 940-0625A) and tried to establish a connection to reset the password (instructions here: https://www.apc.com/us/en/faqs/FA156075/).
I actually still have an old laptop with Windows 7 and a Serial ComPort.
I downloaded the 30-day version of HyperTerminal and am now desperately trying to establish the connection. In HT, there is no display of “User/Password” or anything like that.
I tried the specified port settings: 2400,8,N,1,N and also 9600,8,N,1,N.
Can anyone tell me if there is something wrong with the configuration or if it is the ComPort?

Did you follow step 5 which indicates pressing the Enter Key repeatedly??? As an aside the AP9617 is so old it shouldn't even be used. The AP9630 / 31 are so cheap on eBay its not a whole lot of financial outlay to have something more current and feature rich.
Even though the AP9630 / 31 NMC is end of life APC continues to provide limited firmware updates. Which as of this writing is v7.1.8 for this legacy hardware.
