I am in need of some help with setting this up. I downloaded the Device IP configuration utility but it does not detect any of the cards. I already tried the ARP method but still nothing. We can seem to find the serial cables to try it that way. Any other way to get this done?
Is there a reason why the utility can't locate the unconfigured cards? Can the cards be reset to factory settings? These cards have always been on the UPS's but no one ever set them up.
The other thing I did was replaced the AP9617 with a brand new, out fo the box AP 9630 and the utility can't seem to find it. What gives?
Anything helps.
Thanks!

yes, as long as it does not get a DHCP address from your network before you run the utility to search for unconfigured cards. if it does get a DHCP address, the status LED will change to solid green on that card as well. otherwise, you can use the utility to search for configured cards and search an IP range - for instance, if you know the DHCP scope/pool, you can search for a range of addresses.
if the wizard does not work, the only other thing could be a blocked port which prevents it from searching for the cards. i believe it uses SNMPv1 to query the card after it finds it too to display a few things like the firmware version in the table that returns results.

the official procedure is to turn the UPS off and braindead it. i never do it and there is a very slim chance anything would happen. i've done it hundreds of times so my expert advice is just to hot-swap them.

the first thing i would do is verify the lights on these cards. if you look at the network jack, the link LED is on the left and the status LED is on the right. can you tell me the color of the lights and if they are solid or flashing?
AP9630 defaults to DHCP so if the card gets a DHCP address, the device IP wizard will not discover it unless you specify to search for a specific DHCP pool range. by default the wizard searches for unconfigured cards on the network.
AP9617 comes for DHCP with option 43 vendor cookie required by default.

ok, that status LED being solid green means it has valid IP settings (well in the valid format, not maybe the right IP for your network). so unless you know the IP range to search, the device IP wizard will not find it. ARP won't work when a card is configured either.
there is no way to reset AP9617 without logging into it. can you try and track down the serial cable again? for AP9617, you'll need to look for 940-0024/940-1524..its a black cable with the part # engraved on the connector.

So I can't find the serial cable for this. I did find an AP 9630 (new) and I saw that I can replace the ap9617 with. Since it's brand new I will be able to find it using the Device IP Config Utility right?

I am in. Going thru and configuring everything now. Still will need to configure the other ap9617 somehow.
One more question. I have 2 other UPS without NMC, now can I install the NMC WITHOUT turning off the UPS?

I tried two ranges but nothing is coming up. I will look for the serial cable. Let's hope I find one.
