APC AP5615 Password Recovery

Hello, 

this is my first post (ever).

Eight years ago I bought a used APC AP5615 KVM. Only now do I have the time to set up a server cabinet for home automation. Unfortunately, the KVM turns out to be password protected.

Costumer support from APC (www.apc.com/support/contact/) did refer me to an article of theirs. But that article only says;” … You will need to gain local console access and connect to the KVM with a serial connection in order to Restore the KVM to Factory Defaults via the console menu.”

Alas, I am a psychiatrist with limited IT skills. I can connect a console to the KVM. However, only the password prompt remains on the screen. And should that serial connection go from a server to the SETUP port? In this way it is not possible to establish a connection with, for example, the Hyperterminal program.

Could someone please explain to me how to reset the password for my device?
