Hello all,
I have a rack filled with 6 servers and they are plugged into an APC 3000. I have installed the powerchute software on one of the servers (the agent and the server software and console) and have connected the usb cable from that server to the apc. The software works fine and discovers that server.
My question is how can I monitor the other 5 servers? I tried to install just the agent but the agent then wants to look for or have you specify how the server is connected to the apc.
Id like to be able to monitor the other 5 servers so if the power goes out it will gracefully shutdown all the servers in the rack.
Also, does apc make any sort of agent to gracefully shutdown cisco routers?
Thanks for any help or suggestions you all can provide. I really appreciate it.
Patrick

BWO,
How old is the ups and the batteries? How do you turn it back on? Are there any red leds lit on the front panel?
It sounds like it may be failing a self test and dropping the load. While this is rare, if it has been failing multiple self tests, the battery may be so weak that it can't even support the load for even a brief outage.
FYI please create a new thread next time since this one has been answered for a while now

Thank you so much for that detailed and very helpful and informative post. This was just the info I needed. I was looking at the different models...can you explain what the out of band management option is all about?

The AP9618's Out of Band management feature refers to the built in modem. It can be configured to send page alerts over the phone line so you can still be notified of events even if the network goes down. You can also dial into the card, and configure/control the UPS using a program like HyperTerminal.

I have an UPS 3000 and every 14 days it shuts down. It’s not hooked up to any Computer to drive the Power Chute App. If in the pass it was setup to shut down How can disable Power Chute if that’s the Problem.
