AP9810 dry contact usage scenario

Hello, I need help determining if the AP9810 dry contact accessory will meet my needs. Basically I need a network-controlled relay that functions totally independently of the UPS.

I want to control a relay output from an in-house script via SNMP or HTTP. I do *not* want the relay to be affected by UPS alarms, nor by PowerChute, etc. The relay needs to respond *only* to external commands via SNMP or HTTP. Can the AP9810 do this?

My use for the relay is not actually anything related to UPS or power but I already have AP9631 cards deployed. So the AP9810 would be a cheap way for me to get a network-controlled relay as long as it can be configured the way I need. Otherwise I will need to look for a stand-alone device of some sort (suggestions for such also welcome).

I'm not recommending anything, but the first G00gl3 page results included these 2 which seems to fit your requirements, are stand-alone and not create additional complexity by being designed for a purpose other than the one you need it for:

I think AP9810 would work in a few different ways. You can simply wire up to the output relay and toggle it open/closed via the AP9631 interfaces.

Alternatively, if you needed a physical switch in case of loss of network connectivity, you could connect that switch to an input relay on the AP9810 and map the input relay to the output relay on the AP9810. That way, activating your external switch would trigger the output relay to change states without doing anything else to the UPS or AP9631.

Yeah, I'm already somewhat familiar with interacting with the AP9631 via SNMP, so I'm pretty sure I can control it okay. The main thing that I'm uncertain about is if it can be configured to *not* toggle whenever there is a UPS alarm. I don't want UPS events to operate the relay. Can you confirm if the AP9810 relay can be configured to operate independent from UPS events?

Yes, it does nothing by default. You have to specifically map AP9631/UPS actions or conditions to the relay dongle so you would just leave it like that and manually operate the output relay.
