AP9631 ups total power consumption

Hi,

I have SUA2200I ups with AP9631 NMC (6.1.1 AOS)

I have opened a discussion before about updating NMC firmware. In updated version of the card, I cannot view total power consumption of the UPS?

I can see the logs that calculate percent of UPS capacity that is used every 10 minutes by default. It would be good see total power comsumption at the end of month (in kwh)

Am i missing something?

Yes, with a Network Management Card in the UPS, you're supposed to use PowerChute Network Shutdown (PCNS) to achieve graceful shutdown via the network communication in the UPS and your server where PCNS is installed. You don't need PCNS if you don't need to gracefully shutdown anything attached to the UPS.

And yes, you can downgrade if you want to. The new firmware did not add/remove any new features specific to the older SUA UPS platform. Just the look and feel is different. Some new features were added for SMX/SMT model UPSs which are those that for sure support providing kWh and energy usage.

If you downgrade and see something you used to have, see if you can do a screenshot and it will help me get on the same page as you with this.

This UPS does not support kWh natively. It only provides Voltage, Amperage, % wattage and % VA of capacity. The newer style UPSs (with model prefix SMT/SMX) I believe do. I checked my SMX1000 and it did provide Output Energy Usage: 173.47 kWh. But, this is because the UPS is capable of providing the values to the management card for you to view. The network management card doesn't provide or calculate them directly. On SMT/SMX models, we also provided some information on CO2 usage which is located under Logs->Energy Usage for those UPSs or any other future supported UPS.

The data log is one location to see what this UPS provides as well as under Status -> UPS menu. You can check Logs->Energy Usage but you likely won't see it on your model.

Ok but i remember i have checked kwh values before updating firmware or by connecting ups directly with usb. I think it is a software issue that could be solved easily.

II also remember my old back ups rs model could give CO2 and kwh values.

Yes I remember but this feature depends on the UPS, not the AP9631 or PowerChute if you've used that. Did you move your AP9631 to a different model UPS? Is SUA2200I what you read of the sticker on the back?

This UPS, assuming the model is correct, is on an older platform and would not provide kWh natively by itself.

I have this exactly http://www.apc.com/resource/include/techspec_index.cfm?base_sku=sua2200i

I didnt move NMC to anything else. I only have one smart ups.

I have read that with NMC like AP9631, i can only use powerchute network shutdown utility because it is connected to local network.

I also tried using regular powerchute software which didn't worked with AP9631.

I'm pretty sure i have seen total kwh from web interface before the firmware update. I have checked it couple of times to see my weekly power consumption too. After the update, whole web interface is changed completely, that feature went missing.

In previous firmware,  menu links were placed to left side instead of the top. I may revert back to previous firmware and check it if you are sure about this UPS not supporting this feature
