AP9618 no network connection - bad MAC address

This is my 2nd APC AP9618 I'm trying on my SmartUPS-1500RM2U, for some reason everything else seems to be working fine but I get no network connectivity.

If I run a serial cable and connect through a terminal session, I see the MAC address showing all FF's instead of the real MAC address. No matter what I do, it would always say no network. Status shows N-, what can I do to make it work?

Card came originally with 2.02 firmware, I'm updating to 3.73 now, but I'm not sure if this would do it? What causes the MAC address to show like that? Do I have hardware issues somewhere? This is my 2nd card I'm trying.

Much appreciate your help.

did the first card have that same issue with FF FF FF FF FF FF for a MAC? generally, the cards with that problem will need to be replaced as there is no way for the user to fix it. with a bad MAC, you cannot get the card to work properly.

Do those cards get more than one supply voltage from the UPS or expansion chassis they're in? I could see something like 3.3V working but 5V not working preventing the SEEPROM VPD from being read out properly. To the original poster - do you have a second UPS you could try one of the all-FF's management cards in to see if it shows a proper MAC address there? To Angela - is there any wan to get to the 10Man... menu (during password reset procedures) which would allow the user to update his VPD as necessary from the label on the unit?

Thanks for your replies, the card is installed into an 1500VARM2U UPS, I had an environmental card there before and it was working. Both cards behave the same with FF FF... bad MAC address, unfortunately I don't have another UPS to try out.

Could it be something with the UPS itself?

Much appreciate your help.
