I have an Smart-UPS 2200 RM3U with an AP9617 NMC. I've had them working together for a few days now. Today I upgraded the firmware on the NMC to AOS 373 because I want to use the PCNS 3.0 to shutdown various machines etc. However, after upgrading the firmware to 373 the NMC does not see the UPS in the Device Manager and I can't access the NMC via it's web page.
I've rebooted the NMC. I've shutdown the UPS. But still no change. I can access the NMC from the serial port or from SSH and they both show a blank Device Manager list.
Any ideas why it will not see the UPS?
Thanks,
Brian

oh ok. that is the right file and it should work but it seems like the sumx (app file) did not even load.
can you try the update one more time and try it via manual FTP listed here: http://nam-en.apc.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/768/
you'll need the AOS and sumx .bin files from that .exe you mentioned. let me know if you have any questions but i would expect the manual upgrade to fix it.

You nailed it on the head. For some reason the 372 sumx firmware did not load on the UPS. The manual method worked.
Now to try it on my SU1500.
Thanks

my first guess is you accidently might have flashed the wrong application file on the NMC which is easily fixable.
let's first check that. can you log in on the NMC and under the administration tab->General->About, tell us what you see for the application module name and version?

I can only access the NMC via ssh or serial now. No HTTP access after the upgrade.
This is what I see via serial:
Module Information
Name: aos Type: APC OS
Version: 373 Sector: 47
Date: 02/02/2010 Time: 17:05:14
CRC16: B630

I also noticed the firmware file was:
apc_hw02_aos373_sumx372.exe
Maybe the Smart-UPS doesn't like the 372 firmware?
