AP9211 firmware upgrade

Hello!

I recently acquired a used AP9211 with web management card for my home computer cluster (ovirt running on RHEL7).  I was able to get the AP9211 configured for my network and can telnet and access the web management page of it as well.  Now I would like to determine if the firmware and software needs to be upgraded and with that I have two questions.

1. How can I determine the version of firmware and software currently installed?

2. Where can I download the latest (I understand that this is a very old product and "latest" may be years old) firmware and software?

I have searched these forums and google but all links for the firmware for this device see to be behind password protected sites or deadends.

Thanks for your time and guidance!!

Mike

Thanks for the response and info!

Since the PDU didn’t cost me very much I figured I didn’t have much to lose so I went ahead and upgraded per the forked.net instructions and links.  The upgrade went fine and I am now running with those versions.  So those do actually work with the ap9606 but both had to be upgraded to get the web app working again.  FTP worked the entire time.

Cheers!

Mike

I may have found part of what I was looking for.  In telnet I was able to find the following:

        -----------------------------------------------------------------------

        About System

        Model Number      : AP9606       Serial Number     : WA0040013441

        Manufacture Date  : 09/29/2000   Hardware Revision : G9

        MAC Address       :

        Flash Vendor      : AMD

        Press to continue...

        -----------------------------------------------------------------------

        Module Information

        Description : MasterSwitch APP

        -----------------------------------------------------------------------

        Name        : ms210.bin         Type        : StatApp

        Version     : v2.1.0            Sector      : 4

        Date        : 07/07/2000        Time        : 16:33:46

        CRC16       : 5F32

I am guessing that there might be a newer version of the MasterSwitch APP (assuming the date of 7/7/2000 is correct for this version).  So, is there a download link for a newer version of this software?  And, assuming there is a newer version of the MasterSwitch software, is there also a link for the latest AP9211 firmware?  Since the MasterSwitch APP doesn't look upgraded I am assuming the AP9211 firmware also could use a refresh, even if the latest is over 10 years old... 🙂

Thanks again!

Mike

I was able to find what seems to be the correct software here : http://www.forked.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=3490

Latest Firmware for AP9211:
http://www.forked.net/ap9211/aos309a.bin
http://www.forked.net/ap9211/ms225a.bin

These are from 2005 according to the website.  Are these the correct versions?  Is there a more official location to find very old firmware like these?

Thanks again!

Mike

Hi Mike,

This is a 1st generation model, so the appropriate firmware revision would be somewhat ancient too. I had a look on our own FTP and the latest release I can find is Masterswitch aos rev. 227 rpdu application rev. 220, this has been released in 2004. I am not sure about the forked.net links, I cannot find anything internally that would confirm Masterswitch supports aos rev. 309.
