Hi,
we have in total 8 of the APC AP8681 Metered-by-Outlet with Switching Rack PDUs in our datacenter:
Model: AP8681 Manufacture Year:2013 Hardware Revision: 02
Due to the turn of the year (2021/2022) we tried to get our metered data from the units. Unfortunately the is no metered data like kWh/Amps/Temperature.
We checked the log and all 8 devices lost the communication:
RPDU Rack PDU 1: Component communications lost with Bank Meter 3. 0x3404
RPDU Rack PDU 1: Component communications lost with Bank Meter 2. 0x3404
RPDU Rack PDU 1: Component communications lost with Bank Meter 1. 0x3404
RPDU Rack PDU 1: Communications lost. 0x3402
RPDU Rack PDU 1: Component communications lost with Phase Meter. 0x3404
At time of writing we tried this:
1) Verify that a terminator is inserted in either the In or Out (It is in Out)
2) Upgraded Firmware to 6.8.0 and after some research to 6.9.6
3) Downgraded Firmware to 6.5.6
4) Factory reset of the hole unit
5) Power-Cycled the whole unit
No luck here - the units do their job delivering power but the internal metering is down.
Strange that all 8 units are affected - would be really bad hardware then!
Some ideas we could proceed?

Sorry to hear that! We replaced all the devices. Really bad! No support or information from the vendor.
