Hi
I have the above mentioned PDU. I'm not near it at the moment so from memory I think it has 3.7 firmware. It has a critical error that says power supply #1 is faulty.
I have searched the net as well as these forums and found just one or two short threads about similar faults.
I'm in the UK and wondered who could either repair this or supply parts. I'm fairly handy with a soldering iron, so if it is a blown capacitor I could do it myself although I would hope APC didnt use the dodgy caps that found their way into many pc's 🙂
Thanks for any help guys.

I have just got round to ringing the support centre in the UK and they say they cant help.
I have to say it seems like a huge waste of money just to throw one of these things into the skip. It is apparently still under warranty too but as we are the second user that cant be transfered. Crazy!!!
So thats that 😞

hi adi,
APC does not do any type of repair on these generally because we usually replace them for this issue. the power supplies (primary and secondary) back up the relays that control the outlets. we have a primary and secondary so that if one fails, your load does not drop. if both failed, the load would drop.
thus, i am not sure how to repair it or what would cause the failure - meaning if something physically failed or if something is out of tolerance. so, from the APC side, my recommendation would be to replace it as we do not have information on repairing these.
not sure if anyone else has any other information they'd like to provide on what they've done on their own.

Thanks for the reply.
Would it be possible to buy a used part from APC? After all it seems a waste to be throwing good equipment in the bin in these days of recycling. Or does anyone one have one I could strip for spares?

yes, i agree. we don't sell any used parts here but i am in north america so i am not sure if you can find any shops in your area that do sell stuff. also, i do not have any of that model being based in north america. it seems as though it is not available here. maybe some place like ebay or similar may provide used, broken items?

i found out that only in Moscow they have repair centers because they can't ship parts. there would only be 3rd party companies but i wasnt given any names.

Cheers

Guys thanks for the help.
I'm on holiday at the moment but I will certainly follow up that number.
Funny thing is I may be doing some work in Moscow in the near future 🙂 maybe I can take my pdu with me and get it fixed 🙂
Anyhow fingers crossed I can get som help. I'm just starting out in business so am using quite a bit of second hand gear at the moment. The it industry seems to be awash with relatively new gear that no one wants. I have an APC rack and a couple of ups too I like the quality of build and if the service matches up I'll be a happy customer.
