AP7940 Outlets switched off

I discovered the outlets on one of my 7940's had all been switched off.

When I logged in I noticed warmstarts every 5 minutes, which stopped after I logged in.

It is my understanding a warmstart does not effect the outlets, so my question is what could be the culprit?

make sure you're using the "advanced editor" and it should display an option below the text input box to attach files there. you should see use advanced editor to the right on the top corner of this editor.

basically, i would most likely suggest we pursue a firmware update and start there. will you be able to push a firmware upgrade to the device? it will not affect outlet status. if so, i'll get you what you need and provide instructions.

can you attach the text files that you got via FTP as file attachments by chance so I can shorten up your post with an edit? the log files are difficult to read in the post embarassed also, generally these files contain the firmware version of the PDU and I am not seeing that listed so it makes me think it is older firmware before that helpful little tidbit was added. lastly, I see some Switched Rack PDU: Communications lost events in your log so this may be part of the problem with the warmstarts.

basically, see if you can get me the log files in .txt files, i'll fix your post, and we need to verify the firmware version of the PDU. warmstarts like this sort of remind me of a little mini blue screen type of event on windows OS - could be a firmware issue, configuration, etc but i hope that we'll be able to fix it. shouldn't be too tough.

to find the firmware version - do you have a help->About system menu in your web interface or do you have an administration tab at the top with a general sub-menu and an about section on the left? i need to know the AOS and APP version - something like AOS 2.6.4 and APP rpdu 2.6.1.

i meant FTP to the card and then download the files to your computer via FTP then post them here. if you go to the knowledge base @ http://www.apc.com/site/support/index.cfm/faq/ and search for FA156131 for instructions.

Anyway, your firmware is 6+ years old so even if it is not the root cause of the problem, i'd definitely recommend we consider upgrading it. It would give you some bug fixes and the the web UI layout is a bit different.

i imagine an upgrade will have an impact on this though.
