Do you have any of the case references numbers? Are you using HTTP or HTTPS for the web GUI? (I could probably tell that by the log files)
Depending on what's happening, something could be causing it to lock up and need to be rebooted - similar to a computer type of application.
Did they have you try a reset to defaults at any point?

Can you clarify - what message do the users get on the web GUI when its not working - does it time out and no page loads or say someone else is already logged in?

HTTPS for the web GUI
Incident: 120809-000559 opened with APC (#2788-324516081-5718)
Did not have request from APC to reset to defaults
Reset of netmanagement card via SSH2, console, or paperclip reset fixes immediately.
Current firmware 3.7.3 and reflashed per APC instructions again to 3.7.3 (flashed and reflashed per APC request a 2’d time)
Event logs show nothing. Daily connections are once/day SNMP power query and once/day NTP update.
Nothing abnormal on LED display or lights-no errors indicated
I raised idle timeout from default 3 min to 8 min with no change in behavior-still fail https connect to giu
One question APC is asking is are you logging out of the gui each time or just shutting down the screen
What I am wondering is if a login is just not being logged out which will prevent http access.
Is this happening with all users?
Customer says
We don't usually close it at all, it usually times out and then we close the window. I can try logging out.
No other power strips are giving us this problem.
Thanks Angela

i don't suppose it is an option to use HTTP for a while to see if the same behavior occurs? i mention that because using all of the resource intensive encryption function on these devices tends to result in less than desirable behavior. I know you mentioned SSH is in use. But on the other hand, not all other Rack PDUs the user has are displaying this type of thing.
and just to clarify as well - reflashing the firmware is different than resetting the unit to defaults. a reflash does not generally do much so if the user cannot try HTTP temporarily to see if same behavior continues, I'd suggest resetting the unit to factory defaults and re-configuring it to see if the issue still persists.

http is not an option in this case
I will try the reset to factory defaults and then reboot and then reconfigure—all from consoling in
None of that should cause the power to the outlets to go off—correct?

correct. only the network management card interface will reboot which does NOT include the device and its outlets.
you can also back up your configuration file first if you'd like. It can be downloaded via SCP or FTP and is called config.ini. i imagine they had you provide that one at some point so maybe you are familiar with downloading it.

Yes got all that
I’ll give it a try on reset to defaults and then back to the custom config
Thanks

At first glance, I don't see anything wrong with the config file.
Also, I am not saying this will fix it but we do have another firmware version, v3.7.4 AOS/rpdu APP that's out now if you want to give it a try. I attached it to this post. I only suggest it because the AOS portion that deals a lot with this functionality has been updated a revision.
