Hi,
I recently bought a used APC switched PDU for a lab environment 8 ports.
Model Number: AP7921B
Network Management Card AOS v6.4.6
I believe it is now no longer supported although I still see it being sold in webshops.
Can someone here point me in the right direction on how to obtain the firmware for the NMC and version mentioned above of this switched PDU?
Regards,
Randy

Hello,
I have two Switch Rack PDU AP7921B and I was able to Upgrade the firmware 7.1.4 only to one.
When I start the application to upgrade the Firmware, I receive the following message:
Firmware distribution does not match target device platform, this could be due a corrupt distribution.
It looks like the platform does not accept the firmware version and the same firmware files has been used to successfully upgrade the other PDU.
Do I need a older Firmware version before upgrading this one?
If so can you provide it?
Enclose the snapshot of the web page that shows the PDU info.
Thanks
Dario

The first thing is to confirm which NMC (NMC 2 vs NMC 3) is onboard this will dictate which firmware branch is applicable.
APC Technical Support can assist in validating the same. Other related problems can be solved by reading this related thread:

Hello,
I wish to exchange my experience in how I fix the Firmware Upgrade issue.
Starting from the following message:
Firmware distribution does not match target device platform, this could be due a corrupt distribution.
The message was not really clear but I have the intuition that there was something wrong on the flash.
I though that one or more file were corrupted beside, from console (serial connection), I used the format command to clear the flash and reinitialize the file system.
After reboot, from CLI I set the following parameters:
1. IP Addess, mask and gateway
2. Enable FTP service
3. download from the this web site the correct firmware versione:
than from a PC connected in the same Network of AP7921B NMC 2, I used a FTP client to establishing the connection to the NMC 2 flash.
When you execute the installation file, some file will be written on your file system and a folder named Bins shall contains the following bin files:
1. apc_hw05_bootmon_109.bin
2. apc_hw05_aos_712.bin
3. apc_hw05_rpdu2g_714.bin
Using the FTP client I transfert one by one by one in sequence, the above files and at the end of each transfert, the system reboots to install the bin file than, the connection with FTP client shall be reestablished.
Considerations:
1. Xmode transfer from serial connection was not possible because NMC 2 refused to write the selected files;
2. When I tried to execute the installation application, the upgrade process fails given the above mentioned message;
3. The operation above described was successfully completed however, it must be done considering that is your last chance and it is a destructive activity besides, pay attention of what you are doing but no panic at all.
ATTENTION: What I have done was not driven from Official Thech Support beside, it needs to be certified beside, it may be possible that the above procedure is not applicable for all cases.
